About the Council

  • While all schools follow the same basic policies and practices, the School Council can give advice to school staff on how these practices can best be applied at our school given our knowledge of the community and our children.
  • Working with school administration in the development and implementation of the school plan for continuous improvement
  • Fundraising to enhance school life for our students. Funds raised by the School Council have been used to provide technology, books for the classrooms and library, and support for the music and physical education programs

You! All parents or guardians of students registered at Black Walnut Public School are encouraged to attend council meetings. We want your input! You can choose to attend all meetings or just the occasional meeting.

  • Regularly attend and participate in Council meetings
  • Maintain a school-wide perspective on issues
  • Act as a link between the Council and the community
  • Help to achieve the goals as determined by Council members
  • Encourage the participation of all parents within the school community
  • Participate in subcommittees and assist with tasks of the Council as appropriate

All parents are encouraged to join a Council subcommittee. You do not have to be a Council member to sit on a subcommittee. Our Council has several subcommittees that do valuable work in supporting our students, teachers, and school.

Our goal is to serve the families of our students in the most efficient, inclusive way possible. Thank you for letting us help you!
